Nice new hang out spot

Introducing a cool place to just hang out in the heart of Little India. Ren i Tang is located at 82-A Lebuh Penang and after 21/2 years of love and attention put into this old Chinese medicinal hall, you can only expect to be in awe once inside. It's a 17-room boutique hotel, plus it's Bistro Tang serves up some pretty delicious home cooked meals. I hang out there for their coffee, fresh lemonade and beef sandwich. Free wifi too.

Getting there from 15 Bangkok Lane is easy! Just hop onto any of the 101/102 Rapid Penang busses that head towards Weld Quay (Pengkalan Weld) and you're there!

Learn HOKKIEN Phrases

You'll need to know at least SOME Hokkien when visiting Penang. Islanders would display tremendous happiness when you can utter a few words in their local dialect. Penang Hokkien sounds distinctively different from Taiwanese or Singaporean Hokkien.  Personally, I love the sound of the dialect because it reminds me of my childhood, my grandmother in her sarong, train rides from Kuala Lumpur up to Penang and my cousins that I played with while in Penang.

We open our doors to our neighbours

Social media aside, we chatted and learnt that they were from Scotland and were residing in Penang. Here's Jasmine Low, reading her poetry titled "On 63" , which refers to 63 Kelawei Road.  This offers some background on the history and the family. Az Samad, guitarist & musician extraordinaire   Notice the orb-like lighting behind Az? This shall be the centre-point of the room, illuminating Illuminati who will perform at this very spot. We hope to bring artists from near and far to No. 15. And offer them a space that could help spur their dreams towards musicianship and masters of their craft. We're just the providers of the space and opportun

A day trip to Balik Pulau

Sometime last year, my aunt Yin, cousin Richard, Dad and I visited a typical farm in Balik Pulau with hens laying eggs, ducks, geese, goats and even a Rambutan and Durian orchard! What an exciting day it was! Delicious local fruits Residents  Humble lady boss talk about her most precious fruits - Durians! Ducks abound! Hen laying chicks Cluck cluck did you hear???  Life in a gated community
